Aplicação

O glicerol é usado no preparo da amostra e na formação de gel para eletroforese em gel de poliacrilamida. O glicerol (5%-10%) aumenta a densidade de uma amostra, de modo que a amostra forme uma camada no fundo do poço de amostra de um gel. O glicerol também é usado para preparar géis gradientes e como estabilizante proteico e componente do tampão de armazenamento.
