General description
A albumina sérica bovina é uma proteína cuja principal função biológica é regular a pressão osmótica coloidal do sangue. A BSA é amplamente usada em vários estudos e aplicações. Composta por 583 aminoácidos,[5][6] a BSA é uma proteína solúvel em água, com um peso molecular calculado de 66,430 Da. Seis α-hélices formam três domínios homólogos de BSA. Dependendo do pH, ela sofre isomerização conformacional reversível. A estrutura nativa da proteína se torna reativa e flexível com o aquecimento.[7]
Preparation Note
Pode-se referir à albumina sérica como Fração V. Esta convenção de nomenclatura é derivada do método original de Cohn para fracionamento de proteínas séricas usando precipitação com etanol frio. A albumina sérica foi encontrada na quinta fração de etanol usando o método de Cohn. Desde então, o termo “Fração V” foi usado por alguns para descrever a albumina sérica, independentemente do método de preparo. Outros usaram este termo para descrever a albumina sérica purificada por métodos de fracionamento com etanol que foram altamente modificados desde o método de Cohn original foi descrito.
