  1. Which document(s) contains shelf-life or expiration date information for a given product?

If available for a given product, the recommended re-test date or the expiration date can be found on the Certificate of Analysis.

  2. How do I get lot-specific information or a Certificate of Analysis?

The lot specific COA document can be found by entering the lot number above under the "Documents" section.

  3. Is Product F7378, Fluorescein diacetate, a fluorescent compound?

No. Only upon hydrolysis of the esters, catalyzed by cellular esterase, the lactone ring opens yielding fluorescein.  Only the fluorescein form is fluorescent.

  4. After Product F7378, Fluorescein diacetate, has been converted to fluorescein, what are the maximum excitation and emission wavelengths?

The maximum excitation wavelength is 490 nm and the maximum emission wavelength is 526 nm.

  5. What are some common applications for Product F7378, Fluorescein diacetate?

This compound is used extensively for the staining of living cells.  It has been used as a viability stain for cultured neurons and plant ways, and in measuring of esterase and cholinesterase activity.See the following references for usage:Fluorometric determination of lipase: Guilbault, G.G. and Kramer, D.N., "Fluorometric Determination of Lipase, Acylase, Alpha- and Gamma- Chymotrypsin and Inhibitors of These Enzymes", Anal.
