  1. Which document(s) contains shelf-life or expiration date information for a given product?

If available for a given product, the recommended re-test date or the expiration date can be found on the Certificate of Analysis.

  2. Can I use Product No. G6767, Goat serum, cell culture tested for blocking?

We have not tested the cell culture material for blocking in immunological assays. Product No. G9023 has been tested to make sure there are no factors that give non-specific signals in immunological assays.  Some lots of Product No. G6767 may work for your application.

  3. How much protein is present in Product G9023, Goat Serum?

The total protein concentration for the serum can be found on the lot specific Certificate of Analysis.

  4. How many times can Product G9023, Goat Serum, be frozen and thawed?

We recommend that the product be thawed initially and refrozen in individual use aliquots.  The second thawing will not harm the product.  Multiple freeze/thaw cycles can destroy protein.

  5. Does Product G9023, Goat Serum, contain a preservative?

Product No. G9023 contains 0.01% thimerosal.  We do not recommend using this for cell culture applications as the thimerosal can interfere with cell growth.

  6. Has Product G9023, Goat Serum, been heat-inactivated?

Product No. G9023, Goat serum has not been heat inactivated.  For most immunochemical reactions, it is not necessary for the serum to be heat inactivated.  Heat inactivation is only necessary to limit complement activity.

  7. How do I get lot-specific information or a Certificate of Analysis?
