Questions

1–10 of 16 Questions
  1. I have bought this item, How to make this item in pdb file for doing molecular docking?

    1 answer
    1. A specific protocol for creating a PDB file for this product is not available. The SMILES string is included in the product properties. This material is 75-85% deacetylated, which can be helpful for determining the chitosan structure. A literature search is recommended for additional information.

      Helpful?

  2. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
For more information, please refer to the Product Dating Information document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/418/501/product-dating-information-06-25-mk.pdf

      Helpful?

  3. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

    1. The particle size of this product is not determined.

      Helpful?

  5. Is the chitosan produced starting from shrimp shells that are sourced as waste from the food industry, or are these shrimps specifically farmed for chitosan production?

    1 answer
    1. The shrimp sourced to produce this item are harvested in Iceland specifically for use in chitosan production.

      Helpful?

  6. What is the purity of chitosan?

    1 answer
    1. The minimum purity of this product is 75%. Purity is determined on a lot-specific basis.

      Helpful?

  7. Could you please provide us the chemical formula of this chitosan compound?

    1 answer
    1. Chitasan is a biopolymer with a base molecular formula of C12H24N2O9. This particular product is a medium molecular weight option with a range of 190,000-310,000 Da.

      Helpful?

  8. Do you perform a chemical or enzymatic deacetylation on Chitin to obtain Chitosan? Which chemical or enzyme do you employ?

    1 answer
    1. Unfortunately, the deacetylation method is considered proprietary.
