General description

Formaldehyde (HCOH) is one of the most familiar and effective fixatives. The fixation of the histological specimen material of human or animal origin is commonly performed in a 4% or 10% Formaldehyde solution. Chemically, the 4 % Formaldehyde solution equals a 10 % Formalin solution.

Questions

  1. if i want to calculate 0.3% formaldehyde for 100 ml how will i calculate, what will be my stock conc i consider is it 37% of HCHO or 100% of HCHO

    1 answer
    1. The concentration for product 1.04003 can vary from 36.5% to 38.0% concentration.

The standard formula used for dilution is C1V1=C2V2. C1 is the initial concentration. V1 is the original volume. C2 is the final concentration. V2 is the final volume. The equation is written as 37(X) = (0.3)(100ml). Solving the equation, Volume 1 would be 0.8108 ml.
