Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS)-based metabolomics is ideal for identifying and quantitating small-molecule metabolites (<650 Da), including small acids, alcohols, hydroxyl acids, amino acids, sugars, fatty acids, sterols, catecholamines, drugs, and toxins, often using chemical derivatization to make these compounds sufficiently

Mouse knockouts facilitate the study ofgene functions. Often, multiple abnormal phenotypes are induced when a gene is inactivated. The International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC) has generated thousands of mouse knockouts and catalogued their phenotype data. We have acquired metabolomics data

Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. The certificate states 'umol' for the concentration, is this meant to be uM? umol is an amount which on the cert with an unspecified volume

    1 answer
    1. A micromole (µmol) is the unit of measurement used to describe the amount of each amino acid present. This unit does not express concentration; therefore, it is not meant to be µM. For lot-specific results, please refer to the certificate of analysis.

  2. Is the concentration based on 10mL volume or 100ul as stated in the product information sheet for this product.

    1 answer
    1. The concentration of each component is reported in the lot specific Certificate of Analysis. While the concentration of each may vary from lot to lot, the volume does not have an effect on the concentration. Note that the sample protocol available in the product datasheet lists the referenced 100 uL sample as an 80:20 mixture of Acetonitrile and product. The total volume of the sample to be tested is 20 uL of product in a total volume of 550 uL. The concentration of each analyte would then be diluted accordingly.
