This product is tested for solubility in Ethanol at 50 mg/mL. Melatonin is reportedly soluble at 2 mg/mL in water. Solutions are light sensitive and subject to oxidation. The long term stability of this material in solution has not been determined. Solutions may be stable for up to 2 weeks in a 30:70 solution of isopropanol and water at 0-5°C. Application
- To determine if long-term melatonin administration is able to induce reproductive changes and how melatonin exerts its protective action related to lipid oxidation and antioxidant activities in the rat ovary during ovulation.[4]
- To determine the effect of melatonin on endoplasmic reticulum stress and sirtuin 1 expression in neuronal cells of newborn rats after hypoxia–ischemia.[3]
- To study the effect of melatonin on chronic stress-induced gut dysfunction in stressed mice.[1]
