General description

Sodium nitrate is a nitrate salt of sodium, which finds application as a preservative in cured meat products for the protection against Clostridium botulinum and other Clostridium species.

Application

Refer to the product′s Certificate of Analysis for more information on a suitable instrument technique. Contact Technical Service for further support.
Sodium nitrate may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in the following:
  • Ham using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (RP-HPLC-DAD).
  • Human saliva samples using ion chromatography (IC) technique.
