General description

Ethanol, a flammable, colorless, chemical compound, is one of the most found alcohols in alcoholic beverages. It is commonly referred to as alcohol.

Application

Ethanol has been used:
  • in vehicle-treated controls to perform mouse experiments
  • in viability assay along with crystal violet to stain human and mouse high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) cells after stimulation
  • to prepare 17β-estradiol (E2) to use in cell culture experiments
  • in cell cycle analysis for fixing cells drop-wise

Biochem/physiol Actions

Ethanol is a widely used organic chemical in industry and consumer goods. This aliphatic alcohol is mainly used in industry as a solvent and as an intermediate in the production of other chemicals. Ethanol is used in plastics, drugs, polishes, lacquers, plasticizers, and cosmetics production. This topical anti-infective is also used as an antidote for ethylene glycol.

Other Notes

Sales restrictions may apply. Suitable for the precipitation of nucleic acids
