Petrochemical Standards

An industrial complex with multiple chimneys and structures illuminated against the twilight sky, with a foreground of darkened crops.

Petrochemical standards are vital to the evaluation of the physical and chemical properties of petroleum, gasoline, or other petrochemical products in various industrial applications. We offer a comprehensive line of neat standards as well as single- and multi-component solutions used in testing petroleum, gasoline, or other petrochemical-relevant substances.

Our standards are formulated to meet the recommendations of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), as well as other international organizations. These petroleum standards allow the appropriate examination and processing of fuel oils to ensure safe and efficient use.

Biofuels

Our portfolio of multi-component biofuel solutions is specifically designed for use with ASTM® D6584. These pre-made solutions save the analyst valuable preparation time. It includes certified reference material (CRMs) solutions produced and certified following ISO 17034 and ISO/IEC 17025. Some of our biofuel standards are also available as greener alternative products. These products reduce environmental impact without compromising the quality and efficacy of your results.

Low levels of free and bound glycerin are critical to biodiesel fuel performance. But both free glycerin and bound glycerin contribute to deposit formation on injector nozzles, pistons, valves, filters, and storage tanks. ASTM D6584 provides a standardized method for the determination of free glycerin and total (free + bound) glycerin. Commercial biodiesel producers use this method to determine if a production run of B100 (100% biodiesel methyl esters) can be sold or requires rework.

Gasoline & diesel

We offer CRMs for quantifying kerosene, gasoline, and aromatics like benzene. They are designed for use with the respective ASTM methods ‒ ASTM D1319, ASTM D5880, and ASTM 4053.

Fuels & hydrocarbons

For determining hydrocarbons in oils, crude, refined, or other matrices, we offer a range of neat and solution reference material. The selection includes analytical and certified reference material grade standards with gas chromatography (GC) and high-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) suitability.

Sulfur matrix CRMs

Our selection of sulfur CRMs includes products from Paragon Scientific, suitable for calibration, verification, or use in quality control procedures involving sulfur content analysis in petroleum products. Our range includes sulfur in light mineral oil, heavy mineral oil, synthetic diesel, and in kerosene (odorless) with sulfur content ranging from 0 (blank) to 5.0000% (50000 ppm) for each material. All products are certified in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 and are fully traceable to international standards. They are supplied in 100 mL volumes in tamper-evident glass packaging with a 12-month shelf-life.
