Adenine is a component of important biomolecules such as adenosine triphosphate (ATP), nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD). NAD and FAD forms the structure of DNA and RNA, and plays important role in protein synthesis. ATP is an energy source, that is essential for cellular respiration.[4]
