General description
Essigsäure ist eine organische Carboxylsäure. Es handelt sich um eine hygroskopische Flüssigkeit mit stechendem Geruch. Wasserfreie Essigsäure wird als Eisessig bezeichnet. In gelöster und gasförmiger Form bildet Essigsäure durch Wasserstoffbindungen verbundene Dimere, die häufig als Phasen bezeichnet werden. Sie ist von Natur aus leicht sauer.
Application
Essigsäure wird häufig als Lösungsmittel für verschiedene Oxidationsreaktionen verwendet. Darüber hinaus kann sie bei der Analyse von synthetischen Peptiden mittels Tandem-Massenspektrometrie (MS/MS) mit Elektronentransfer-Dissoziation (ETD) verwendet werden. Sie kann auch bei der Herstellung von Peroxyessigsäure (Desinfektionsmittel) durch Reaktion mit Perhydrol (Wasserstoffperoxid 30 %) eingesetzt werden.

Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.
