Gene Information

human ... L29(282618)

General description

IFN-λ-1,-2, and -3 (also known as IL-29, IL-28A and IL-28B respectively) are distantly related to the IL-10 family of interferons. All three IFN-λs use a distinct receptor system composed of an IFN-λR1 subunit (also called CRF2-12) and IL-10R2 subunit (also called CRF2-14). Signaling through this receptor system induces antiviral defense similar but distinct than the type I Interferons.

Immunogen

L29 (NP_742152, 9-44)
This antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide selected from the N-terminal region of human IL29.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Interleukin-29 (IL-29) enhances the production of interleukins from monocytes. It has been observed that it stimulates antiviral responses to herpes simplex virus 1 in vitro. Serums from patients with rheumatoid arthritis have high levels of IL29.

Physical form

Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide.

Interferon (IFN)-λ1 is a newly described cytokine that is known for its proinflammatory activity in viral infection and in cancer. Because recent studies indicated that IFN-λ can influence significantly the innate and adaptive immune response, we studied IFN-λ in a

The immunoregulatory function of interleukin (IL)-29 has recently been recognized. However, little is known about the involvement of IL-29 in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study aimed to examine the expression profiles of IL-29 in blood, synovial fluid

Lambda interferons (IFN-λ) are known to induce potent antiviral response in a wide variety of target cells. They activate the same intracellular signalling pathways and have similar biological activities as IFN-α/β, including antiviral activity, but signal via distinct receptor complex

We report here the identification of a ligand-receptor system that, upon engagement, leads to the establishment of an antiviral state. Three closely positioned genes on human chromosome 19 encode distinct but paralogous proteins, which we designate interferon-lambda1 (IFN-lambda1), IFN-lambda2 and
