Nucleoporin GLE1 or GLE1-like protein (GLE1L) is an mRNA export factor in both human and yeast cells and interacts with nuclear pore complex proteins NUP155 and NUPL2. GLE1 may act at a terminal step in the export of mature RNA messages to the cytoplasm. Mutations in GLE1 have been associated with lethal congenital contracture syndrome type 1 (LCCS1) and lethal arthrogryposis with anterior horn cell disease (LAAHD).
