Descripción general

Residue - WP proficiency testing material is produced in accordance with ISO/IEC 17043:2010. Also referred to as non-Potable water or Water Pollution sample, this product is produced according to TNI requirements. However, please note, this sample may include non-TNI analytes as well. The higher criteria from the TNI tables mimic the levels common to wastewater samples. The PT portfolio allows our test components to offer significant performance data to monitor and prove competency to customers, accreditation bodies, or both.

Supelco® is a global proficiency testing (PT) provider that manufactures best-in-class environmental and pharmaceutical PT products. Most water PT samples are available as concentrates or ready-to-use volumes giving the end-user flexibility in selecting samples that will fit their exact needs. Our WP program is designed to meet the quality assurance requirements in compliance with Discharge Monitoring Report - Quality Assurance Program (DMR-QA), thereby ensuring the analytical competence of your laboratory.
These samples are typically provided in duplicate for use in case of lab mishap, for QC purposes or to analyze multiple methods.

Type of PT Scheme: Water analysis - Water Pollution (WP)

Matrix: Water Pollution/Wastewater

Analyte/s: Values of analytes vary lot to lot.

All information regarding the use of Residue - WP can be found in the reporting packet which will be available to download at PT Portal.

Aplicación

Residue - WP is a non-potable water (NPW) PT standard, suitable for testing total solids (TS), total dissolved solids (TDS) and non-filterable residue (TSS) in water pollution/wastewater.

Nota de preparación

Description

  • This PT sample is a solid concentrate.
  • The matrix for this sample is NaCl.

Sample Preparation

  • Partially fill a 1000 mL volumetric flask with reagent-grade water.
  • Open container PE1050-1.5G and transfer entire contents to a volumetric flask.
  • Transfer to the volumetric flask using a glass funnel.
  • Rinse the vial, cap and funnel with reagent-grade water and transfer to the volumetric flask.
  • Fill the volumetric flask to volume (1000 mL) and mix by inverting the flask 10 times.
  • Allow sample to rest for 10 min and invert 10 more times.
  • Immediately after the second set of inversions, rapidly measure a 500 mL aliquot into a graduated cylinder by repetitively mixing and pouring so as not to allow solids to settle in the flask before the transfer is complete.
  • The sample is now ready for immediate analysis.
  • Filter this 500 mL aliquot and determine the analytes according to the chosen method(s).
  • Remember to correct back to 1000 mL.
