Gene Information

human ... MCM4(4173)

Inmunógeno

Synthetic peptide directed towards the N terminal region of human MCM4

Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

Minichromosome maintenance complex component 4 (MCM4) is one of the mini-chromosome maintenance proteins that are crucial for eukaryotic genome replication. MCM proteins are key components of the pre-replication complex, recruit replication-related proteins and form replication forks. MCM4 is a part of MCM2-7 complex helicase that is essential for normal DNA replication and genome stability. Mutations in MCM4 gene result in adrenal failure, growth retardation and NK cell deficiency.

An interesting variant of familial glucocorticoid deficiency (FGD), an autosomal recessive form of adrenal failure, exists in a genetically isolated Irish population. In addition to hypocortisolemia, affected children show signs of growth failure, increased chromosomal breakage, and NK cell deficiency....

Natural killer (NK) cells are circulating cytotoxic lymphocytes that exert potent and nonredundant antiviral activity and antitumoral activity in the mouse; however, their function in host defense in humans remains unclear. Here, we investigated 6 related patients with autosomal recessive...

The Mcm2-7 complex serves as the eukaryotic replicative helicase, the molecular motor that both unwinds duplex DNA and powers fork progression during DNA replication. Consistent with its central role in this process, much prior work has illustrated that Mcm2-7 loading...

Accumulating evidence suggests that dormant DNA replication origins play an important role in the recovery of stalled forks. However, their functional interactions with other fork recovery mechanisms have not been tested. We previously reported intrinsic activation of the Fanconi anemia...
