General description

We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Green Chemistry. This product is a biobased surfactant and is aligned with the 7th principle of Green Chemistry "Use of Renewable Feedstocks" and the 10th principle "Design for Degradation".

Application

TWEEN® 80 has been used in drug vehicle solution for specific injections in mice and rats. It has been used for the determination of esterase activity in bacterial cells.
Non-ionic detergent used for selective protein extraction and isolation of nuclei from mammalian cell lines.

Biochem/physiol Actions

TWEEN® 80 is a polysorbate surfactant which helps in stabilizing proteins and in protein membrane studies. It is regularly used for the extraction of membrane proteins and isolation of nuclei from cells.

Features and Benefits

  • 100 % Renewable
  • 100 % Bio-based
  • Certified to the USDA BioPreferred Program
  • Lower carbon footprint than petrochemical-based versions

Previous reports show that vagal afferent innervation of the stomach eventually regenerates from surviving nodose ganglion (NG) neurons after subdiaphragmatic vagotomy. Systemic capsaicin treatment destroys gastric vagal afferent neurons expressing vanilloid receptor 1 (VR1). However, it is not known whether
