Glucosyl stigmasterol from Plectranthus asirensis has medicinal value. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory functionality[1] and acts as an antagonist to the enzyme 5α-reductase.[2]

General description

Glucosyl stigmasterol or stigmasterol glucoside is a biologically active compound distributed in various plant species including P. urinaria. It has a steroid backbone structure similar to testosterone.[2] Glucosyl stigmasterol is a prime sterol component of plant cell walls and membranes.[3]
