General description

Perfluorobutanoic acid is an environmental pollutant, belonging to the perfluorochemical (PFCs) class of compounds. These compounds are widely used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications such as fire-fighting foams, paper, leather and textile coatings, polymer industries, etc.

Application

Perfluorodecanoic acid may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in the following:
  • Water matrices using ion exchange high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with tandem mass spectrometric (MS/MS) detection.
  • Food contact paper using gas chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (GC–MS/MS, HPLC–MS/MS).
