General description

Horse serum produced from adult horses is homogenous and has low levels of polyamine oxidase. It is metabolically stable and promotes cell proliferation. Horse sera is an alternate to bovine serum and is a source of growth factors and hormones.

Application

Horse Serum has been used as a supplement in culture medium in pheochromocytoma cell culture, cortical slice cultures, retinal cells and myotubes.

Other Notes

Donor Horse Serum is collected from controlled donor herds located in the USA. Horse serum contains high protein and low trace metals compared to Fetal Bovine Serum. Donor Horse Serum is suitable for use in diagnostic assays, as a supplement in mycoplasma growth and assay media and for culturing hematopoietic stem cells and neuronal cells.

Preparation Note

Collected from a controlled herd.

During morphogenesis, epithelia undergo dynamic rearrangements, which requires continuous remodelling of junctions and cell shape, but at the same time mechanisms preserving cell polarity and tissue integrity. Apico-basal polarity is key for the localisation of the machinery that enables cell
