5-氨基水杨酸(5-ASA)已用于：
  • 合成5-甲酰-氨基水杨酸-菊粉以测定其在体外消化和发酵中的释放量，并比较改性菊粉与天然菊粉的体外发酵表现
  • 在细胞粘附试验中研究其对E-钙粘蛋白的糖基化和膜周转的影响
  • 评估其对中性粒细胞炎症指数(NII)表型的影响，研究高胆固醇膳食-肠道炎症(HCD-GI)平台的有效性

5-氨基水杨酸是适用于ELISA分析的过氧化物酶底物。这一底物产生可溶性的棕色终产物，可在450nm处通过分光光度法读取。使用3 N NaOH可终止反应并在550 nm处读取结果。

生化/生理作用

5-氨基水杨酸(5-ASA)是治疗溃疡性结肠炎(UC)等炎症性肠病的一线药物，具有较高的诱导和维持缓解有效率。5-ASA是柳氮磺吡啶的活性成分，其他成分为糖类聚合物——菊粉。具有抗氧化活性，可减轻组织损伤。5-ASA对于T细胞激活和增殖的预防十分重要。它可负性调节环氧合酶和脂氧合酶通路，减少前列腺素和白三烯的生成。5-ASA可刺激E-钙粘蛋白的膜表达，促进细胞间粘附。
