一般描述

应用
A 蛋白可与各种受体分子包括荧光染料 (FITC)、酶标记物（过氧化物酶、β-半乳糖苷酶、碱性磷酸酶）、生物素和胶体金缀合，而不影响分子上的抗体结合位点。这些缀合物可在各种免疫化学分析包括蛋白质印迹、免疫组织化学和 ELISA 应用中用于检测免疫球蛋白。此外，也可将 A 蛋白固定到固体载体如琼脂糖或丙烯酸树脂小珠上，用以纯化多克隆或单克隆免疫球蛋白。通常还可用于免测沉淀试验。

生化/生理作用
A 蛋白是由金黄色葡萄球菌的多种菌株产生的高度稳定的细胞表面受体。它由一条分子量为 42kDa 的多肽链组成，包含四个富含天冬氨酸和谷氨酸但无半胱氨酸的重复域。它几乎不含糖，并且仅含有 4 个酪氨酸残基，不含色氨酸。A 蛋白能够结合到许多物种的免疫球蛋白（特别是 IgG）的 Fc 部分上。已证实，一个 A 蛋白分子能同时结合至少 2 个 IgG 分子。A 蛋白的 IgG 结合域由三个反向平行的 α-螺旋组成，当其与免疫球蛋白的 Fc 域复合时，第三个 α-螺旋被破坏。A 蛋白可与人类 IgG 亚型、IgM、IgA 和 IgE，以及小鼠 IgG1（弱）、IgG2a 和 IgG2b 的 Fc 部分结合。也可与其他物种（包括猴、兔、猪、豚鼠、狗和猫）的 IgG 结合。
