HEPES 缓冲液保持正常的生理 pH 环境，通常用作细胞培养应用中的缓冲液。HEPES 缓冲液对细胞没有营养方面的益处，但是为细胞培养增加了额外的缓冲能力，特别是在二氧化碳培养箱外进行的实验期间。
该 1 M 储备溶液包含用氢氧化钠调节至 pH 7.35 的 HEPES。将浓缩缓冲液添加到细胞培养基中以达到所需浓度（通常为 10–25 mM）。

注：如果浓缩缓冲液中存在沉淀，则将瓶温和地加热至 37°C，混合直至完全溶解后稀释。
