Application

YPD Broth is recommended for the growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for molecular biology purposes. This medium supports the growth of most heterotrophic microorganisms but due to their simple composition, they have been adopted as the basal media for the routine cultivation of yeasts. General methods in yeast genetics specify using Yeast Extract Peptone- Dextrose (YPD) medium for cultivating S. cerevisiae and other yeasts.

Disclaimer

We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs. The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.

General description

YPD Broth is a nutritious general liquid growth medium commonly used for the maintenance and propagation of Pichia pastoris, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and other yeasts. It is a medium used for molecular cloning, protein expression, or as enrichment media. Peptic digest of animal tissue provides nitrogenous nutrients. Yeast extract provides nitrogenous nutrients as well as Vitamin B Complex. Dextrose provides the carbohydrate and energy source to support the growth of S. cerevisiae.

Preparation Note

1. Suspend 50 g in 1 L of distilled water.
2. Autoclave for 15 minutes at 121°C.
50 g per liter

Questions

  1. Bonjour, serait-il possible d'avoir la composition de ce produit, svp? Je cherche à faire une solution pour les amibes dont la composition est : Proteose Peptone, Yeast Extract, avec un mélanges sels et metaux et je me demande si ce produit convient.

    1 answer
    1. The composition of this product is Bacteriological peptone, 20 g/L, Glucose, 20 g/L, and Yeast extract, 10 g/L. The peptone component would not be considered a proteose peptone and there is no additional salts or metals in this formulation. Should it be of interest, product 82450, Proteose-Peptone, is available. See the link below to review this product:
