Application

Visiprep™ SPE Vacuum Manifold was used to perform solid phase extraction, to separate polyphenols from grapes, in order to determine the polyphenol content using LC-MS analysis.[1] It was also used for concentration and purification of solvent extracts from surface water and sewage water sediments.[2] Furthermore it was used to extract and determine, estrone in water using solid-phase extraction-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (SPE-ELISA).[3]

  • PP collection vessel rack accommodates autosampler vials; smallscintillation vials (22.75 mm O.D. recommended); 10 and 16 mm test tubes; and 1, 2, 5, and 10 mL volumetric flasks. An optional plate for 20 mL scintillationvials is available for 12-port models.

General description

Visiprep™ Solid Phase Extraction Vacuum Manifolds andaccessories automate the preparation and cleanup of laboratory liquid samplesby solid phase extraction. Used with a vacuum pump, a Visiprep™ manifold canextract up to 12 or up to 24 samples simultaneously, significantly increasingsample throughput while decreasing sample preparation hands-on time, relativeto liquid-liquid extraction methods. Visiprep™ vacuum manifolds feature avacuum bleed valve and a stand-alone coverto provide you with precise flow control and safe, easy use.With our flow control valves you can precisely manipulate flow through eachtube by rotating the individual screw-valves built into the cover. Our recentlyoptimized standard manifolds are suitable for SPE methods in the PFAS testingarea. All crucial components that contain PFAS (e.g. PTFE) are substituted byPFAS free alternatives like e.g ultra-high molecular weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) or stainless steel (needle guides). These ensure low PFAS backgroundcontamination during the SPE process. The glass basin will not dissolve, fog,or discolor when exposed to powerful solvents. The manifold rack accommodatesautosampler or small scintillation vials, 10 mm or 16 mm test tubes, or 1, 2, 5or 10 mL volumetric flasks. An optional plate fits up to ten 20 mLscintillation vials in the 12-port model. The vacuum bleed valve improves control of the vacuum level andensures more secure closure of the valve. This screw-type valve is fitted withan ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene cone shaped seal (now PTFE-free).Tightening the screw ensures a complete seal with no leakage at the valve.Loosening the screw breaks the seal, allowing immediate vacuum release to stopextractions or to lift the manifold cover. Four 2" legs enable you tostand the cover on a work surface with the SPE tubes maintaining their uprightpositions. This prevents solvent guides from resting on the work surface andbecoming damaged or contaminated. Drying attachment on themanifold is sold separately, it installs in minutes and can be used with anyinert gas. The drying attachment also is useful for concentrating recoveredsamples. Gas flow to each tube can be independently adjusted.

  3. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.   5. What is the spacing between ports for the 12 and 24 manifolds. Will spacing accommodate 60mL reservoirs such as PN 57022 in neighboring positions.

    1. Following are the dimensions for the valve placements.
      Visiprep 12 Port, Product numbers 57030-U & 57044
      1 1/8" (1.14") Between valves (center to center)
      1 5/8" Between rows (center to center)

      Visiprep 24 Port, Product numbers 57250-U & 57265
      7/8" (0.875") Between valves (center to center)
      1 3/8" Between rows (center to center)

      All ports on the 12 and 24 vacuum manifolds can only be used simultaneously with 1, 3, and 6mL tubes. In order to use all ports of the manifold with 12, 20, or 60 mL SPE tubes, Long Stem Flow Control Valves are required – see product 57048.

  6. What additional items are required to utilize Visiprep Manifold 57030-U?

    1. To operate both the standard Visiprep SPE Manifolds (57030-U and 57044) and the Visiprep DL Manifolds (57265 and 57250-U), you will need a vacuum pump and a Waste Trap Kit (57120-U). The waste trap should be installed between the manifold and pump to ensure that the waste going into the glass basin is pulled through the front gage and out into the waste trap.
      Other necessary items include:
      • SPE tube of choice
      • Vials, test tubes, or other collection vessels that fit the polypropylene collection vessel racks, accommodating autosampler vials, small scintillation vials, 10 and 16 mm test tubes, and 1, 2, 5, and 10-mL volumetric flasks. An optional plate for 20 mL scintillation vials is available for 24-port models.

  7. What leads to the vacuum gauge needle on the Visiprep SPE Manifold to bounce back and forth instead of being steady?

    1. The fluctuation of the vacuum gauge needle usually indicates a faulty diaphragm, necessitating the replacement of the entire gauge. Part number 57035-U is the Vacuum Gauge with Bleed Valve for both the 12-Port and 24-Port Visiprep SPE Manifolds.
      For the Visiprep Vacuum Gauge, the gasket is an essential matched part and, as such, cannot be replaced independently of the other components.
