Általános leírás

Gold (III) chloride hydrate (HAuCl4) can be used as a precursor to synthesize goldnanoparticles and p-type dopant for most conjugated organic molecules. Thedoping leads to the expansion of crystalline lattice and enhances conductivitydue to the formation of a large number of chargecarriers.

Alkalmazás

Gold(III) chloride hydrate can be used to prepare TiO2-supported Au-based photocatalyst by deposition-precipitation with urea. These catalysts show a higher amount and production rate of hydrogen via a water-splitting reaction.

Conjugate polythiophene films can be prepared by the solution-doping method using HAuCl4 as a dopant. These highly conductive polymer films can be applied in the field of vapor sensing and organic electronics.

HAuCl4 can be reduced to prepare gold nanoparticles by using different reducing agents like NaBH4, glucose, and poly (propylene imine) dendrimer.

It has been suggested that particle size plays an important role in determining the genotoxicity of gold nanoparticles (GNPs). The purpose of this study was to compare the potential radio-sensitization effects of two different sized GNPs (3.9 and 37.4 nm)

Questions

1–8 of 8 Questions
  1. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1 answer
    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.
For more information, please refer to the Product Dating Information document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/449/386/product-dating-information-mk.pdf

  2. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1 answer
    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers. For more information, please refer to the Storage and Transport Conditions document: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/deepweb/assets/sigmaaldrich/marketing/global/documents/316/622/storage-transport-conditions-mk.pdf

  3. What is the actual molecular weight of this product? 339.79 as it says in the data sheet or is there an additional weight due to the xH2O?

    1 answer
    1. 254169 is Gold(III) chloride hydrate. The number of hydrate water is not determined as per its COA: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/certificates/sapfs/PROD/sap/certificate_pdfs/COFA/Q14/254169-BULKMKCV5951.pdf, so the actual molecular weight is not available. 339.79 is the molecular weight of 254169 on the anhydrous basis. There will be additional weight due to the xH2O.

  4. How can I determine the number of hydrates present in Product 254169, Gold (III) chloride hydrate?

    1 answer
    1. To determine the number of hydrates, you can use the following formula:   % of the metal = [(MW of metal) (# of metal atoms)] / [(MW of anhydrous product) + (x * 18g/mol)]Solving for x: x = [[(MW of metal)(#metal atoms)] - [(%of metal in product)(MW of anhydrous product)]] / [(% of metal in product) (18 g/mol)]

  5. What is the Department of Transportation shipping information for this product?

    1 answer
    1. Transportation information can be found in Section 14 of the product's (M)SDS.To access the shipping information for this material, use the link on the product detail page for the product.

      Helpful?

  6. What is the reported purity of Product 254169, Gold (III) chloride hydrate based on, chemical or metal purity?

    1 answer
    1. The purity (99.999%) is not the chemical purity, but rather the purity based on trace metal content.  In the case of 99.999% a maximum of 20ppm total metallic impurities would be allowed.

      Helpful?

  7. What is the melting point of n Product 254169, Gold (III) chloride hydrate?

    1 answer
    1. We have never determined the melting point, however we do have a note indicating that this compound will decompose when melted.  Also the 13th Edition of the chemicals encyclopedia published by the Royal Society of Chemistry states that this compound will decompose on strong heating to form chlorine gas, hydrochloric acid gas, and metallic gold.
