Application

ProClin preservatives are immediately microstatic upon contact with microbial organisms as a result of their ability to quickly penetrate cell membranes and inhibit specific enzymes crucial to cellular respiration. Multiple specific sites of ProClin toxicity prevent microorganisms from developing high levels of resistance, making ProClin highly efficient even over extended storage periods of your IVD components.

Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. Is it possible to retest and extend the expiration date for ProClin 950?

    1 answer
    1. There is no existing documentation for extending the expiration dating of ProClin 950.

      Helpful?

  2. Please provide insight on whether Proclin 950 acts as an antimicrobial and effectively inhibits mold. Also, suggest an alternative preservative to inhibit both bacteria and mold. The current use of Proclin 950 at 0.05% is leading to the growth of fungi/mold (Cladosporium asperulatum and Penicillium chrysogenum) in the liquid reagent.

    1 answer
    1. Proclin 150, ProClin 200, and ProClin 300 are known for their effectiveness as biocides, providing protection against yeast and fungi. Each of these products contains the active ingredients CMIT and MIT. However, ProClin 950 only contains MIT and lacks CMIT, making it ineffective as a fungicide. This deficiency may explain the fungal growth you are observing.
