Application

ECC ChromoSelect Agar is a differential medium recommended for the presumptive identification of Escherichia coli and other coliforms in food and environmental samples. The chromogenic mixture containstwo chromogens as X-glucuronide and Salmon-GAL. X-glucuronide is cleaved by the enzyme beta glucuronidase produced by Escherichia coli. Salmon-GAL is cleaved by the enzyme galactosidase produced by majority of coliforns, including Escherichia coli. Color of E. coli colonies: blue/purple

Preparation Note

Suspend 55.8 g in 1 litre distilled water. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Cool to 50°C and pour into sterile petri plates

Footnote

We offer two media types: the superior granulated GranuCult® and the cost-efficient powdered NutriSelect® culture media, depending on your needs.
The designations basic, plus, or prime are added to indicate the quality control level, from basic quality control to standard QC plus to prime for full regulatory compliance.
