General description

Cefuroxime is a new broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic,[1] with increased stability to β-lactamases.[2] It is actively used against gram-positive organisms, including penicillinase-producing staphylococci and non-β-lactamase-producing gram-negative bacteria.[2]

Application

Cefuroxime may be used as a reference standard in the determination of cefuroxime in plasma samples using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).(3)
