Application

Gold(II) chloride solution can be used to prepare stable nanosized and underivatized colloidal gold particles in solution; e.g. synthesis of citrate-stabilized gold nanoparticles by the reduction of HAuCl4 with NaBH4 in an aqueous citrate solution. It can also be used to prepare gold nanoparticles in the presence of aqueous solution of L-cysteine and methanol solution of 11-mercaptoundecanoic acid.
