General description

EX-CELL CD HEK293 Viral Vector Medium is an animal origin-free, chemically defined cell culture medium for clinical and commercial manufacturing of viral vectors for gene and cell therapies. The medium is intended for processes implementing (polyethylenimine) PEI transfection reagents. EX-CELL CD HEK293 Viral Vector Medium is part of the VirusExpress® Lentiviral Production Platform and the medium of choice for VirusExpress 293T Lentiviral Production Cells (VP001). The medium is also suitable as a standalone solution for other HEK293 and HEK293T cell lines for AAV and lentiviral manufacturing. EX-CELL CD HEK293 Viral Vector Medium has been formulated to support high suspension cell densities with minimal clumping, high transient transfection efficiency when used with PEI, and high viral titers in shake flask and stirred tank bioreactor formats. Viral vector production using this medium is a scalable, suspension process that does not require a media exchange or feed post-transfection.

EX-CELL CD HEK293 Viral Vector Medium has been designed with long-term needs for manufacturing in mind, with a sustainable raw material supply chain, custom packaging options, and careful material and manufacturing process selection. The product is produced in an ISO9001-certified facility following the principles of cGMP according to IPEC-PQG.

Application

EX-CELL CD HEK293 Viral Vector Medium was developed to support VirusExpress Production Platforms. It performs well within the platform as well as with other HEK293 clones. The following white paper demonstrates the use of one of the prototype media formulations in developing a scalable, transient transfection-based suspension process for lentiviral vector production using the VirusExpress 293T Lentiviral Production cells:
