Apolipoprotein A-IV (apoA-IV) is an important constituent of HDL (high-density lipoprotein) and chylomicron particles. It is an antioxidative glycoprotein, that is located on human chromosome 11. It is a 44kDa protein, that belongs to the exchangeable apolipoproteins family. It is produced mainly in the intestine.

Apolipoprotein A-IV (apoA-IV) plays a major role in reducing peripheral cells of an overload of cholesterol. It possesses anti-atherogenic properties. Less level of apoA-IV is usually linked with cardiovascular outcomes. It is involved in reverse cholesterol transport.
