生物化学的／生理学的作用
フェロスタチン-1 は、エラスチン関連フェロトーシスにより誘発される非アポトーシス性細胞死の強力な阻害剤です。フェロスタチン-1 は、がん細胞におけるフェロトーシス性細胞死および器官型ラット脳片におけるグルタミン酸誘発毒性を防ぎます。フェロスタチン-1 は脂溶性 ROS を制御すると考えられます。
フェロスタチン-1 は活性ラジカル捕捉抗酸化剤であり、ペルオキシラジカルを捕捉するためフェロトーシスの強力な阻害剤となります。フェロトーシスは制御された壊死であると考えられており、アポトーシスおよびオートファジーとは異なります。フェロスタチン-1 はハンチントン病に対する予防効果を示すことが知られており、細胞モデルではグルタミン酸塩により誘発される神経毒性も防ぎます。
