(4S)-(+)-4-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxolane may be used in the preparation (prop-2-ynyloxy)ethyl-tethered dioxolanes via O-propargylation.[1] It may also be used as an intermediate in the total synthesis of rugulactone.[2]
