Application

Dulbecco′s phosphate buffered saline has been used :
  • To study how ultrasound could enhance the delivery of anti inflammatory drug through cornea in corneal infections.[1]
  • In the detection of microtubules in sludge worms.[2]
  • For recovering bone marrow cells from the femur of green fluorescent protein (GFP) expressing mice.[3]
  • To study the inhibitory effect of 3-methyladenine on autophagy, in normal rat kidney (NRK) cell expressing GFP-LC3 (autophagy marker).[4]

General description

Dulbecco′s phosphate buffered saline is a balanced salt solution,[1] and a fully supplemented isotonic solution. It contains antibiotics and glucose and inorganic ions as energy sources.[1] It is frequently used with primary cells where risk of contamination may be high.

Preparation Note

Contains 50 mg/L streptomycin sulfate and 100 mg/L kanamycin monosulfate.
