General description

Magnesium chloride solution is suitable for the optimization of polymerase chain reactions (PCR). Magnesium chloride acts as a source of magnesium ions for polymerase chain reactions (PCR). It influences the primer-template annealing temperature, fidelity, specificity, and yield. Excess amounts of magnesium can cause an increase in nonspecific products, while lack of magnesium can lead to reduced yield.

Application

Magnesium chloride solution has been used as a component of the:

• amplification mixture for polymerase chain reaction (PCR)[1]
• amplification mixture in an inter simple sequence repeats (ISSR)-PCR[2]
• reaction buffer in 16S-23S rRNA gene internal transcribed spacer (ITS) PCR amplification and restriction analysis (ITS-PCR-RFLP)[3]
• PCR master mix for quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT PCR) to amplify reversely transcribed cDNA[4]
• reaction mix for RT-PCR to assess the gene expression[5]
