Application

5β,6β-epoxycholestanol-d7 has been used as an internal standard in isotope dilution-mass spectrometry analysis to quantify sterol and oxysterol from mitochondrial samples.[1] It has also been used as an oxysterol standard in high-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS method).[2]

Cholestanol levels are elevated in biliary cirrhosis and in cholestasis.[3]

General description

5β,6β-epoxycholestanol-d7 is the deuterated version of 5β,6β-epoxycholestanol. Cholestanol is a metabolite of cholesterol.[3]
