General description

El metanol es un disolvente orgánico que puede sintetizarse a partir de gas de síntesis en presencia de los catalizadores CuO/AnO/Al2O3. Es un candidato ideal como fuente de hidrógeno en la tecnología de pila de combustible debido a su elevada proporción H/C, su baja propensión a la generación de hollín, su relativamente baja temperatura de reformado y a que existe en estado líquido a temperatura ambiente. En la pila de combustible de alimentación directa de metanol (DMFC), el metanol se oxida con el aire para generar electricidad. Las olefinas (etileno o propileno) formadas a partir del metanol a través del proceso MTO (metanol a olefinas), pueden constituir una alternativa al petróleo y al gas para producir combustibles de hidrocarburos.
Se ha comunicado conversión termoquímica de metanol a hidrocarburos de C2-C10 en presencia de zeolitas con selectividad geométrica. Se ha procesado su oxidación en el sistema catalizador de Ru-Pt mediante adátamos de rutenio.

Application

El metanol se ha utilizado como disolvente para el análisis mediante electroforesis en gel de dodecilsulfatosódico-poliacrilamida (SDS-PAGE) de las isoformas de la proteasa alcalina aislada de las larvas de la lubina moteada (Paralabrax maculatofasciatus). Se ha utilizado en el aislamiento y la determinación cuantitativa de carotenos y xantofilas de extractos del pericarpio de Capsicum annum mediante HPLC.

  1. How can I determine the shelf life / expiration / retest date of this product?

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
      For products without retest or expiration dates, our standard warranty of 1 year from the date of shipment is applicable.

  2. Is this methanol HPLC grade?

    1. This product has not been tested specifically for use in HPLC. The purity of this material is determined by GC. There are a number of HPLC qualified products available. Please see the link below to review these options:

  3. How is shipping temperature determined? And how is it related to the product storage temperature?

    1. Products may be shipped at a different temperature than the recommended long-term storage temperature. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. If the product quality is NOT affected by short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped at ambient temperature. As shipping routes are configured for minimum transit times, shipping at ambient temperature helps control shipping costs for our customers.
