General description
La seroalbúmina bovina es una proteína modelo en varios estudios y está compuesta por 583 aminoácidos.[1][2] Es una proteína hidrosoluble con un peso molecular de 66,4 kDa. Seis α-hélices forman los tres dominios homólogos de la BSA. Dependiendo del pH, experimenta isomerización conformacional reversible. La estructura nativa de la proteína se vuelve reactiva y flexible al calentarse.[3]
Application
La seroalbúmina bovina se ha utilizado en la disolución de lavado para análisis mediante citometría de flujo, la disolución para digestión tisular y disolución de bloqueo para ELISA (enzimoinmunoanálisis de absorción).[4] También se ha utilizado en el tampón de resuspensión para citometría de flujo.[5]
Biochem/physiol Actions
La seroalbúmina bovina se utiliza ampliamente como aditivo para los medios de cultivo celular, en especial en los medios que no contienen suero. Proporciona una variedad de beneficios, como la protección frente al daño oxidativo y la estabilización de otros componentes de los medios, como los ácidos grasos y el piridoxal.
Se sospecha que ciertos epítopos conformacionales y de secuencia primaria son alérgenos en las alergias humanas a la leche y a la carne.
Preparation Note
A menudo denominada fracción V de Cohn, este producto se prepara mediante un método modificado del método de fraccionamiento del etanol en frío de Cohn.
La seroalbúmina puede denominarse también Fracción V. Historically, the molecular weight of BSA has been cited as 66,1201 or 66,2672. However, it was revised in 1990 to 66,4303. All three values are based on amino acid sequence information available at the time of publication. The complete sequence can be found in the UniProt

I make a mistake to put this BSA powder (A9647-100G) in the room temperature for 39 hours. Can it still work?

The long term storage recommendation for this product is refrigerated at 2-8 °C, but it is shipped at ambient temperature. Refrigerated products that ship at ambient temperature are stable for up to 2 weeks to allow for transit time. Items left at room temperature for short periods will not be adversely effected.

Would it be safe to use product A9418 if it was accidentally stored at -20°C for approximately 24 hours, even though it is intended to be stored at 2-8°C?

Can BSA ever contain alpha1 anti-trypsin as a contaminant?

The available Bovine Serum Albumin products are not tested for the presence of alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT). AAT is typically found in Bovine Serum, however, it is unknown if the isolation and purification methods employed in the production of BSA would degrade this protein. A brief search of the literature shows AAT has a molecular weight range of 45 - 52 kDa. It is irreversibly degraded at pH levels below 5. A further review of the literature on potential removal or purification would be recommended.
