General description

Lennox LB es un medio para crecimiento microbiano muy citado que se utiliza para el cultivo de E. coli. Este caldo microbiano rico en nutrientes contiene péptidos, aminoácidos y carbohidratos en una formulación baja en sales.

Application

El caldo Luria se utiliza para el mantenimiento y la propagación de Escherichia coli. E. coli crece más deprisa en el caldo Luria porque la triptona y la levadura proporcionan factores de crecimiento esenciales que, de otro modo, E. coli tendría que sintetizar. El caldo Luria contiene también electrólitos esenciales para el transporte y el equilibrio osmóticos, debido al componente NaCl.
Se utilizó para la resuspensión de fracciones celulares de T. pyriformis en un estudio de fraccionamiento de extractos celulares de Trimastix.
Idóneo para cultivo no selectivo de cepas de E. coli para clonación, producción de plásmidos ADN y producción de proteínas recombinantes. También es adecuado para el cultivo selectivo cuando se añaden los antibióticos apropiados, entre ellos los que requieren bajas condiciones salinas, como la zeocina®.

Preparation Note

1. Suspenda 20 g en 1 l de agua destilada.
2. Esterilice en autoclave durante 15 minutos a 121 ºC.
Para preparar el caldo Lennox L: Añada 1 g de glucosa y siga las instrucciones de preparación anteriores.
Para preparar el medio de Enquist y Sternberg: Agregue asépticamente 10 ml de sulfato de magnesio 1 M estéril después de haberlo esterilizado en autoclave.
