Nafion™ membrane may be used in the fabrication of electrodes by dry plasma. As a proton exchange membrane Nafion™ has been the focus of considerable efforts to develop improved fuel cells.
Nafion™ perfluorinated membrane (Nafion 117) is a composite material that can be used as an electrolytic ion-exchange membrane for the fabrication of fuel cells.
Nafion™ is a perfluorinated ion-exchange membrane which has a wide variety of commercial uses. The acidic (hydrogen ion) form and derivatives are solid, superacid catalysts useful in a wide variety of synthetic applications.

Darkening/browning is common for pieces stored in a general room environment for an extended period of time (several months), due to organics pick-up. Verify product is kept sealed during storage.
· Keep pieces sealed and protected from general exposure will reduce the effect. Recommend long term storage in air-tight bags.
· Discoloration does not affect performance and can be removed by soaking in dilute nitric acid.

Storage and Stability
Storage is to keep sealed in bag. After opening, storage of more than 1 year could cause yellow coloring of the membrane. Simple 1/2 hr soak in De ionized water is all that is needed prior to most uses.
