General description

Silver-exchanged zeolite selectively removes halogens from gas streams and also serves as catalyst.[1]

Application

Silver-exchanged zeolite is used:
  • As a catalyst in the low-temperature CO isotopic scrambling reaction.[1]
  • To capture radioiodine from the vapor phase, which is then thermally converted into silver sodalite.[2]

Questions

  1. For silver exchanged zeolite (product ID 382280), what zeolite structure is used in this product? HZSM-5? Beta? some other structure? Thanks for any info you can provide.

    1 answer
    1. This product has a special zeolite structure containing supercages within its crystalline structure which are especially large and uniform in size. These cavities and their large entrances (pores) allow extremely large capacity for trapping contaminants and maximum utilization of the exchanged silver cations.
