Aquivion® PFSA PW series grades are coarse powders based on the short-side-chain (SSC) copolymer of Tetrafluoroethylene and the Sulfonyl Fluoride Vinyl Ether (SFVE) CF2=CF2-O-(CF2)2-SO2F industrially produced by Solvay Specialty Polymers. The resulting perfluoropolymer′s functional groups are in their sulfonic acid form, SO3H.
Aquivion® PW87S acid powder exhibits ion cation-exchange capacity and can be used as such under conditions where conventional exchange resins have shown insufficient chemical resistance.
Given the resin′s superacid functionality, it can also be used either directly or as an ingredient of composite structures in the field of heterogeneous catalysis. This encompasses a wide range of organic synthesis and respective reaction mechanisms, as already described in public literature.
