Application

Sodium borohydride (tablets form) can be used as a potential candidate to store as well as generate hydrogen for energy-carrier,applications.[1]

General description

Sodium borohydride (NaBH4) is the most commonly available borohydride used in several industrial applications. It is considered a selective reducing agent due to its ability to selectively reduce aldehydes and ketones into their corresponding alcohols in the presence of other functional groups such as nitro, ester, amide, lactone, epoxide, and nitriles. Ethanol and methanol are usually employed as solvents in NaBH4 reduction reactions.[2]

Questions

  1. Hi, there is no information on the properties of the tablets provided. How much does each tablet weigh? Are they 100% NaBH4, or do they contain any excipients? Are they provided in individual blister packs or in bulk?

    1 answer
    1. This product is a 6.35 mm diameter x 12.7 mm length caplet. The weight range per caplet is 0.98 - 1.02 g each. The minimum purity is 96% NaBH4. The identify of the impurities is not determined. Any excipient or binder components are considered proprietary. The caplets are package in glass bottles. Please note that this product is M-Clarity level MQ200 and is for R&D use only. Details regarding this grading system may be accessed at the link below:
