General description

Recombinant, human TRAIL (amino acids 114-281) expressed in E. coli. Ligand for TRAIL receptors DR4 and DR5. Displays potent antitumor activity against selected targets and induces apoptosis in a number of transformed cell lines, but not in normal tissues.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Induces apoptosis in U937 cells at 1 μg/ml within 5 h.

Packaging

Please refer to vial label for lot-specific concentration.

Warning

Toxicity: Standard Handling (A)

Physical form

In 500 mM NaCl, 10 mM Na₂HPO₄, 2.7 mM KCl, 2 mM KH₂PO₄, 0.1 mM DTT, ≤10% glycerol.

Reconstitution

Following initial thaw, aliquot and freeze

(-70°C).

Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) selective killing of cancer cells underlines its anticancer potential. However, poor tolerability and resistance underscores the need to identify cancer-selective TRAIL-sensitizing agents. Apigenin, a dietary flavonoid, sensitizes lung cancer cell lines to TRAIL. It
