General description

m-Cresol is an isomer form of Cresol and is mainly used as an intermediate in the manufacture of chemicals. It is toxic in nature. It is a component of coal tar creosote which is used for wood preservation. It also possess bactericide and fungicide property.

Application

It was used as reference standard solution for determination of phenolic compounds in tyrosinase biosensor using amperometric detection under self-assembled monolayers-based bioelectrode flow-injection.
