(−)-表没食子儿茶素是绿茶中最主要的儿茶素成分之一，也是含量最丰富(~20%)的一种，具有抗氧化特性。

应用

(−)-表没食子儿茶素(EGC)已用于：
  • 作为高效液相色谱(HPLC)分析的参考标准品
  • 分析其对α-淀粉酶和α-葡糖苷酶的抑制作用，以便控制糖尿病的餐后高血糖
  • 在细胞活力检测中检查其对鼠类胰腺β-细胞的抗铁死亡和铁毒性的保护作用
  • 评估其对长期急性和慢性降植烷诱导关节炎的潜在抗炎影响
  • 处理怀孕和哺乳小鼠，研究其对体外血管生成、增殖和内皮细胞迁移的影响
  • 根据CD4+（分化簇4）和CD8+（分化簇8）细胞数量，评估其对怀孕和哺乳小鼠脾脏的影响

生化/生理作用

(−)-表没食子儿茶素(EGC)已证明可用作抗癌剂，对人乳腺癌细胞MCF-7中heregulin-b1(HRG)诱导的迁移/侵袭具有抑制作用。它也对单纯疱疹病毒具有强抗病毒活性。
绿茶多酚。抗癌剂。抗氧化活性低于 EGCG。
