Hydrogen peroxide is a reactive oxygen metabolic by-product that serves as a key regulator for a number of oxidative stress-related states. Functioning through NFκB and other factors, hydroperoxide-mediated pathways have been linked to asthma, inflammatory arthritis, arteriosclerosis, diabetic vasculopathy, osteoporosis, a number of neurodegenerative diseases and Down′s Syndrome.
Features and Benefits
This very simple colorimetric H2O2 assay does not require sample extraction or lysis, involves one-step procedure with one reagent, and the results are available within 30 minutes. The assay is sensitive and detects H2O2 at 51.25 ng/mL when diluted in buffer. Performance characteristics show intra-assay variability from 3-10% and inter-assay variability from 1.7-5.7%. Dilutions of H2O2 are run multiple times in the same assay and the sample standard curve had a slope of 0.9342 with a coefficient of variation of 0.9983. Plasma, urine, and serum samples spiked with H2O2 and diluted 1:64 gave >90% recovery.
The standard is light sensitive. Protect from light. Hydrogen peroxide color reagent must be frozen at −20 °C and during use must be kept at 4 °C. Do not use reagents past kit shelf life.
