Gene Information

human ... IDH2(3418)

Isocitrate dehydrogenase recombinant protein epitope signature tag (PrEST)

Biochem/physiol Actions

IDH2 (isocitrate dehydrogenase 2 (NADP+), mitochondrial) gene encodes a NADP+-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase predominantly found in the mitochondria. It plays an intermediary role in the exchange of metabolites between the mitochondria and the cytosol, and energy production. It is associated with the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex and is essential for shuttling electrons between the mitochondria and the cytosol. This gene had been found to be mutated in high proportions in gliomas. Mutations in IDH2 is more common than in IDH1 (another isoform of IDH) in cases of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Both IDH1 and IDH2 are essential for cell proliferation.

Features and Benefits

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.

Corresponding Antigen APREST70285.

The growing interest in cancer metabolism is best demonstrated by the rapid progress made in studying isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutations since their discovery just over a year ago. In a recent study published in Nature, Dang et al. identified 2-hydroxyglutarate...

Mammalian skeletal muscles are composed of multinucleated cells termed slow or fast fibers according to their contractile and metabolic properties. Here, we developed a high-sensitivity workflow to characterize the proteome of single fibers. Analysis of segments of the same fiber...

The somatic mutations in cytosolic isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) observed in gliomas can lead to the production of 2-hydroxyglutarate (2HG). Here, we report that tumor 2HG is elevated in a high percentage of patients with cytogenetically normal acute myeloid leukemia...
